Because the intake sits right next to the exhaust manifold, heat management gets real attention: a double-layer main shield uses a silver finish on the exhaust side to reflect radiant heat and a black finish on the intake side to absorb it, with an air gap between the layers acting as an insulator against conductive heat transfer.
