do88 Porsche 911 Carrera / S / GTS / Turbo (991) Plenum

The OEM 991 plenum is T-shaped, meaning airflow from the throttle body abruptly changes direction as it's divided to each side of the intake manifold. It makes genuine sense to design a plenum with a Y-shape instead, and that's exactly what do88 did.

Starting from a comprehensive 3D-scan of the engine bay to establish structural limitations, and drawing on experience from previous Porsche plenum projects, do88 quickly realised the need for a Y-joint design. From an airflow perspective, the Y-shape is genuinely more efficient, distributing air more evenly and with less pressure drop. do88 chose cast aluminium construction, since casting allows for shapes CNC-machining simply cannot replicate, as do88 puts it, function always conquers form, maximum airflow supersedes the bling factor. The plenum is designed with soft, sweeping lines, radiuses and angles revised and reworked many times, with CNC-machined connections and matching silicone hoses for optimum fitment and durability.

The numbers, verified through both CFD and do88's own Superflow SF1020 flow bench: 846 CFM versus 808 CFM stock at 0.1 bar/1.45psi pressure drop, a genuine 5% higher airflow. Removing restrictions for the turbocharged air reaching the inlet delivers better throttle response and performance gains across the entire powerband.
