The B58 Gen 2 is a genuinely fantastic engine, but it has a known reliability issue: its charge pipe. This pipe is known to be fragile and can crack or break even on stock cars during track sessions, and if you're considering tuning your engine, upgrading the charge pipe beforehand is highly recommended. Many aftermarket charge pipe kits exist for the B58, but in do88's assessment, most aren't properly designed, typically just two pipes joined by a straight reducing silicone hose, a design that fails to account for thermal expansion and contraction in this system.

do88 took a different approach: the system needs a flexible connection between the two pipes that can genuinely handle thermal movement. Their solution is an aramid-reinforced silicone hose with 3 humps, allowing movement in any direction without folding or putting stress on the connections. To further strengthen the design, the pipes use CNC-machined 6063 aluminium hose connection ends with 3mm wall thickness, resistant to deformation even under overtightened hose clamps. Beyond durability, the pipes are also engineered with a larger diameter and smooth mandrel bends, delivering 27% more flow than OEM.
