The stock intercooler uses quick-click connections for both hoses, connections that are genuinely restrictive to airflow and not ideal in terms of reliability once you're running a high-boost tune. do88's replacement is engineered to deliver the best possible cooling efficiency even under tough conditions, manufactured exclusively in aluminium with continuous welds for genuine reliability and endurance when you need it most.
The numbers: a 124% larger core volume than the factory unit (15,517cm³ versus 6,933cm³), a 75% larger frontal cooling area (1151cm² versus 658cm²), and 41% higher airflow at 0.15 bar/2.18psi pressure drop (498 CFM versus 354 CFM). On a 335xi N55 with a Stage 1 tune, this translated to a documented 13hp peak power gain, alongside a 15°C lower post-intercooler air temperature under identical conditions (43°C versus 58°C stock, measured on an otherwise stock 335xi N55). The stock rubber hoses and plastic J-pipe are replaced with conventional 3in (76mm) hose connections, reinforced silicone hoses, and a 2.5in (63mm) mandrel-bent aluminium J-pipe, compatible with the factory charge pipe as well as any aftermarket charge pipe designed to work with the OEM plastic J-pipe.
