For a long time, the only "upgrade" available for the 991 GT2 RS's intercoolers wasn't really an upgrade at all - just a larger capacity tank for the factory's oddly dated 1990s-style water spray system, which sprays water from a reservoir in the frunk directly onto the intercoolers. A bigger tank simply delayed the inevitable: once it ran dry, the factory ECU automatically limited output to keep the engine safe, and until you refilled it, charge temperatures and power would suffer.
CSF's High-Performance Twin Intercooler System replaces this reactive band-aid with a genuine engineering solution - a Formula 1 performance-grade core that dramatically improves cooling efficiency within the same OEM space constraints. The core carries 28 cooling rows versus the stock 15, using dual-row 3mm rolled tubes with turbulated inner fins (versus the OEM's single 7mm flat tube) and 4.85mm multi-louvered fins on the ambient side, delivering genuinely F1-grade thermal performance. 5-axis machined billet end tanks replace the factory's failure-prone crimped-and-gasketed construction - a well-documented weak point known to leak over time, especially on tuned cars running higher boost. Independent hot-weather testing in 111°F Palm Springs ambient conditions showed intake air temperatures never exceeding 125°F - just a 15°F delta above ambient - and the intercoolers held up through top speed runs reaching 227mph, with the water injection system rarely even needed to stay within safe operating range.
Works with: Stock, tuned, or track-driven builds - true plug-and-play drop-in fit, no trimming of the expensive OEM carbon fibre air ducts required.
Why Choose These Intercoolers
- 28 cooling rows versus the stock 15 - a genuine, substantial increase in cooling capacity
- F1-grade core technology - dual-row 3mm rolled tubes with turbulated inner fins, not a simple bigger box
- 5-axis machined billet end tanks - eliminates the OEM's failure-prone crimped-and-gasketed construction
- Validated in extreme heat and at speed - 111°F ambient testing, 227mph top speed runs
- Reduces reliance on the factory water injection system - addresses the root cause, not just the symptom
- True plug-and-play fit - no need to trim the OEM carbon fibre air ducts
