After over two years of development and four rounds of prototypes, CSF's engine-block-mounted Oil Cooler debuted at Rennsport Reunion 2023 to widespread acclaim - recognised by many as one of the most significant modern upgrades available for the classic air-cooled 911. The original Behr oil cooler, mounted on the engine block of the flat-six, hasn't aged well: it's outdated, un-updated for decades, and increasingly difficult to source, with new OEM units running $1,300+ when you can find them at all.

A key engineering goal was creating a single unit compatible with both early (1965-1971) and later (1972-1989) models - a genuinely tricky problem, since it meant designing two different upgraded fitting styles without compromising oil flow through either. The threaded M30 "widemouth" fitting for 65-71 models offers a 17.5mm ID versus the OEM's 14.5mm, delivering 50% greater flow capacity, while both early and late connection styles use machined in-house stainless steel fittings - a genuine strength and durability upgrade over the OEM's aluminium slip-on tube and threaded fitting, both well-known sources of leaks. The CNC-machined mounting plate uses a helix design for added strength while staying pocketed for weight savings, with O-ring recesses precision-milled directly into the billet to eliminate the risk of leaks from improper O-ring seating. A modern tube-and-fin core delivers lower pressure drop and higher heat dissipation than the original, finished in a modern Cerakote titanium coating that both replicates the OEM Behr look and adds genuine extra heat dissipation.

Works with: Both early (1965-1971) and late (1972-1989) fitting styles - a true combo-fit design, genuinely useful for stocking dealers as well as individual owners.

Why Choose This Engine Oil Cooler

  • Single unit fits both early and late models - 1965-1971 and 1972-1989 fitting styles both included
  • 50% greater flow capacity - widemouth M30 fitting design vs the OEM's restrictive 14.5mm ID
  • Machined stainless steel fittings - replaces the OEM's leak-prone aluminium slip-on tube and threaded fitting
  • CNC-machined billet mounting plate - helix design for strength, precision-milled O-ring recesses to prevent leaks
  • Modern tube-and-fin core - lower pressure drop and higher heat dissipation than the 35+ year old original design
  • Cerakote titanium finish - replicates the OEM Behr look while adding real heat dissipation benefit
  • Complete drop-in fit - no modifications required, 10-year warranty
